Dr. Symone Alexander
Principle Investigator (PI)
Dr. Alexander's research mission is to fight metabolic and environmental toxins detrimental to human health by designing multi-functional materials targeted at digestive microbiomes. Using her interdisciplinary expertise in small molecule and polymer self-assembly, physics of living systems, and design and characterization of responsive polymer materials, she aims to transform the way biomaterials and bioprocessing are employed to remove toxins and supply nutrients in dynamic environments.
